Very few details about this big rig crash have been released, but we do know that a portion of the roadway had to be closed, and traffic was backed up until after 8:00 p.m.
Last week, there was a crash involving two semi trucks on Interstate 26. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in the westbound lanes, near mile marker 66. At this time, very few details about the crash have been released, we do know that a portion of the roadway had to be closed as first responders and crews worked the scene. There has been no word on whether or not anybody was injured in this truck crash.
Over the weekend, a truck overturned on Long Shoals Road, near the entrance to Biltmore Park. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night. For currently unknown reasons, the truck overturned in the roadway. Fist responders were swiftly on the scene where they had to extricate the driver. Although he was conscious and apparently able to walk, he was complaining of chest pain on the scene.
On Tuesday afternoon, a semi truck crash had traffic backed up in Haywood County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on I-40 east, near the US-74 exit (Exit 27), near Clyde. This wreck happened sometime after 1:00 p.m. and involved a tractor-trailer and a box truck. For currently unknown reasons, the semi truck sideswiped the box truck. Very few details about this truck crash have been released, but we do know that the driver of the box truck was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries. No charges have been filed, and the cause of this crash is likely still under investigation with law enforcement authorities. Drivers were advised to avoid the area as crews and investigators worked the scene.
On Monday morning, a semi truck crash in Saluda had traffic backed up on I-26. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime before 7:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-26, near exit 59. The truck involved in the wreck was hauling liquid sugar at the time. Reportedly, the truck came around a turn, went off of the roadway and then the driver overcorrected. This caused the load of liquid sugar to shift, which then resulted in the vehicle overturning.
