Semi Truck Crash in Jackson County Work Zone

On Monday morning, a semi truck crashed into a work zone in Jackson County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on U.S. 74 at about 7:00 a.m. Very little information has been released about this crash, but we do know that a tractor trailer reportedly entered a construction work zone near Gindstaff Cove Road and struck a barrier. The driver lost control of the vehicle, and it hit a median and then came to a stop. Thankfully, nobody was working in the work zone at the time of the crash. This was a single-vehicle crash, and no injuries were reported on the scene.

Teens Injured in Crash on US 64

Last week, three people were injured in a crash on U.S. 64 in Transylvania County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near the Henderson County line. There were two vehicles involved, and one of them was a Penske truck. There were two teens from West Henderson High School in one of the vehicles. They were injured, and so was the driver of the Penske truck. First responders from Transylvania and Henderson Counties rushed to the scene, where the roadway had to be closed for a couple of hours.

Overturned Tractor-Trailer in Rutherford County

On Monday morning, there was an overturned tractor-trailer in Rutherford County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened in the westbound lanes of U.S. 74, just past Exit 178, near Cleghorn Mill Road. Very few details have been released about this truck crash, but we do know that there were significant delays in the area.

Distracted Driving Big Rig Crash in Polk County

On Tuesday afternoon, there was a semi truck crash in Polk County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened at about 1:00 p.m. on I-26 near Holbert Cove Road. Very little information has been released about this truck crash, but we do know that the truck driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it overturned in the roadway. A portion of I-26 eastbound had to be closed as crews and first responders worked the scene. Additionally, the tractor-trailer was apparently loaded with chicken and bacon at the time of the crash.

Truck Driver Charged with DWI Twice in Five Hours

A few weeks ago, a truck driver in Haywood County was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) twice in the span of about five hours. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, tractor-trailer driver Daryl Garrett was pulled over on the evening of August 14, 2018. The officer involved noticed he had slurred speech and other signs of impairment. There was also alcohol in the vehicle. Garrett was arrested and charged with DWI and commercial DWI at that time. He was then issued a $5,000 unsecured bond at the magistrate's office. He made that bond and was able to leave.

Fatal Truck Crash in Fletcher

Last week, there was a fatal crash involving a large truck in Fletcher. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on U.S.-25, near Smiley's Flea Market. Although very little information has been released about this fatal truck crash, initial reports indicate that a sedan and a Spartanburg Recycling truck collided head-on. The driver in the sedan, 42-year-old David Anthony Sapp, was ejected from the vehicle. He died on the scene as a result of his injuries.

Crash Involving Fire Truck in Brevard

Over the weekend, two people were injured in a crash involving a fire truck in Brevard. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Old Rosman Highway near the Queens Mini Mart at about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday. Very little information has been released about this crash, but we do know one person had to be airlifted to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Woman Fatally Hit by Work Truck

Last week, a Burnsville woman was fatally hit by a work truck. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Thursday morning in the parking lot of the Shell station on East Main Street. Very little information has been released about this collision, but we do know that the work truck was being driven by a 24-year-old from Knoxville, Tennessee.

Tanker Truck Crash in McDowell County

Last week, there was a tanker truck crash in McDowell County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened on Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Highway 226 South and Interstate 40. Initial reports indicate that the tanker was hauling heating oil at the time of the crash. During the crash, the truck overturned and reportedly spilled gasoline and maybe heating oil onto the roadway. The driver claims that the brakes malfunctioned at the red light causing him to lose control of the large vehicle. A portion of Highway 226 had to be closed in both directions as first responders and crews worked the scene.

Overturned Truck on I-40

On Tuesday afternoon, there was a truck crash on Interstate 40 in Haywood County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near the exit for Newfound Road. Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that a pickup truck towing a camper overturned on the roadway.
