Tractor Trailer Crash on I-40

Earlier this week, there was a semi truck crash on I-40 in Haywood County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in a westbound lane near Fines Creek Road in Clyde. Very few details about this big rig crash have been released, but we do know that a portion of the roadway had to be closed, and traffic was backed up until after 8:00 p.m.

Semi Truck Fire on I-40

Early Monday morning, a tractor-trailer caught fire on I-40 West. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near the Blue Ridge Parkway, close to mile marker 54.1. At this time, very few details about the tractor-trailer fire have been released. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Crews were swiftly on the scene, where a portion of the roadway had to be closed until about 6:00 a.m. The cause of this fire could still be under investigation with law enforcement authorities.

Jackknifed Tractor Trailer in Buncombe County

Over the weekend, a semi truck jackknifed on a Buncombe County roadway. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night. The tractor-trailer jackknifed in the eastbound lanes of I-26 near mile marker 21, near New Stock Road. Very little information about this truck crash has been released, but we do know that a significant portion of guardrail was taken out during the wreck. Although the cause of this truck crash is still under investigation with local law enforcement authorities, initial reports indicate that the truck driver may have been travelling too fast for the conditions.

Haywood County Semi Truck Crash

On Tuesday afternoon, a semi truck crash had traffic backed up in Haywood County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on I-40 east, near the US-74 exit (Exit 27), near Clyde. This wreck happened sometime after 1:00 p.m. and involved a tractor-trailer and a box truck. For currently unknown reasons, the semi truck sideswiped the box truck. Very few details about this truck crash have been released, but we do know that the driver of the box truck was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries. No charges have been filed, and the cause of this crash is likely still under investigation with law enforcement authorities. Drivers were advised to avoid the area as crews and investigators worked the scene.

Truck Crash on I-40

On Tuesday morning, a crash involving a dump truck had traffic backed up in Asheville for hours. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on the ramp to I-40 west at Highway 74. Although very few details have been released, we do know that a large piece of heavy equipment fell off of the back of the truck's trailer. The equipment fell onto an oncoming car. Apparently, the driver of the dump truck was travelling too fast for the roadway conditions.

Tractor Trailer Crash on I-26

On Monday morning, a semi truck crash in Saluda had traffic backed up on I-26. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime before 7:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-26, near exit 59. The truck involved in the wreck was hauling liquid sugar at the time. Reportedly, the truck came around a turn, went off of the roadway and then the driver overcorrected. This caused the load of liquid sugar to shift, which then resulted in the vehicle overturning.

Semi Truck Crash on I-40

On Monday morning, a crash involving an 18-wheeler had traffic backed up in Haywood County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near mile marker 18. Apparently, a semi truck driver lost control of the rig, and it crashed into a wall. The large truck lost power and lighting in the wreck, and an additional two vehicles collided with the wreckage. Very few details about the crash have been released, but we do know that the truck driver, based out of Orangeburg, South Carolina, was cited for 'exceeding a safe speed for conditions.'

Truck Overturned in Buncombe County

On Monday afternoon, a propane truck overturned beside a roadway in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened at about 1:45 p.m., at Country Mountain Road and Rose Hill Road. First responders and crews were swiftly on the scene, where the propane had to be carefully removed.

Fatal Semi Truck Crash on I-40

On Sunday night, a family of three was killed in a wreck involving a semi truck in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the collision happened at about 8:40 p.m., in the eastbound lane of I-40, near mile-maker 56. For currently unknown reasons, a tractor-trailer merged into the right lane and into the path of a 1998 Ford Escort. The Escort was run off of the roadway and crashed into a heavily wooded area. The car hit multiple trees before stopping.
