On Friday morning, there was a semi truck crash on Interstate 240 near downtown Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near Mile Marker Three, sometime around 2:45 a.m. Very few details about this tractor trailer crash have been released, but we do know that the large commercial truck overturned near Jackson's curve by Jackson's Western Store on Patton Avenue. A portion of the roadway had to be closed until about 10:00 a.m. Initial reports indicate that the truck was hauling 2-ethylhexyl phthalate, which is a chemical used to make plastics.
On Monday afternoon, there was a semi truck crash on Interstate 40. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near Black Mountain, just before exit 72. Very few details about this truck crash have been released, but we do know that the truck went over an embankment. All eastbound lanes had to be closed as first responders and crews worked the scene. There has been no word on the cause of the crash or if anybody was injured. This tractor-trailer crash could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.
