On Friday, a semi truck overturned on Interstate 40. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in Haywood County, near Mile Maker 17 and Fines Creek Road. Very few details have been released about this truck crash, but we do know that traffic was backed up for most of the day as crews worked the scene. A portion of the eastbound side of the roadway was closed until nearly 8:00 p.m. Minor injuries were reported on the scene.
On Sunday night, there was a crash involving a semi truck on Interstate 26 in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near the Brevard Road exit at about 9:30 p.m. Initial reports indicate that a semi truck merged into the lane of another vehicle. That vehicle then hit a guardrail and overturned in the roadway. The big rig involved did not stop after the wreck. At this time, it's not clear whether or not the truck driver was aware of the crash.
Last week, a semi truck crash left traffic backed up in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the one-vehicle crash happened sometime before 6:00 a.m. on Sweeten Creek Road at Hendersonville Road. For currently unknown reasons, the truck left the roadway and hit a telephone pole. The tractor-trailer came to rest on its side next to the roadway. The wreck resulted in telephone and internet lines being strewn about the railroad tracks.
