A recent crash in Buncombe County took the life of one person. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened on US-70, near New Salem Road, in Swannanoa. Very few details about the wreck have been released, but we do know that a pickup truck collided with a van. Initial reports indicate that a passenger inside of the van was killed in the crash.
Earlier this week, there was a multi-car crash on I-26 in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened near Exit 33 for NC-191 (Brevard Road). Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that at least one person was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. There has been no word on the cause of the four-car pileup crash.
Last week, a man in Buncombe County suffered from a head injury in a collision. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Brevard Road, near the Buncombe, Henderson County line, on Wednesday afternoon. Very few details about the wreck have been released, but we do know that one of the vehicles involved went off of the roadway and down into a ravine. First responders rushed to the scene, where they found a man inside of a vehicle with an apparent head injury. That person was transported to Mission Hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement officials in Buncombe County just announced that the number of Driving While Impaired (DWI) arrests made over the New Year's holiday enforcement period was down from last year's numbers. Over the holiday weekend, law enforcement agencies in North Carolina and across the nation were out in full force cracking down on drunk driving and other traffic safety violations. In addition to increased enforcement and patrols, there were also enhanced educational efforts to get the word out about safe transportation alternatives.
On Sunday night, there was a crash involving a drunk driver in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in the Beaverdam Community, near Lakeshore Drive off of Edgewater Lane. Although very few details about the one-car crash have been released, we do know that the vehicle landed upside down in a lake. The driver of that car, 34-year-old Rowan Marks, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving while impaired. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported with this incident.
Over the weekend, a multi-car crash in Buncombe County had portions of Patton Avenue shut down. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on I-240, near the Jeff Bowen Bridge. Although very few details have been released about this crash, we do know that at least two vehicles were involved. At this time, there has been no word on the cause of the crash or if anybody was injured. This wreck could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.
On Monday night, two people were killed in a crash on Smokey Park Highway. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, this Buncombe County head-on collision happened sometime before 9:00 p.m., in the 1500 block of Smokey Park Highway, near the Bojangles. For currently unknown reasons, a Chevrolet pickup truck pulled into the path of an oncoming antique Ford pickup truck. Davie McClure, 84 years old, and his wife Mattie were in the antique truck at the time of the crash. They both died as a result of their injuries.
