On Tuesday afternoon, there was an injury crash involving a church van in Henderson County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in Edneyville at about 12:45 p.m. Very little information has been released about this van crash, but we do know that at least six people were injured. Initial reports indicate that the church van left the roadway and struck a tree. No other vehicles were involved in this crash. No information has been released on the cause of the wreck, which is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement officials. At the time of the news report, no charges or citations had been filed.
A recent press release from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) outlines the importance of 15-passenger van safety and maintenance this summer. Summer camps, church groups, youth clubs and other organizations frequently use 15-passenger vans to transport children and adults. The NHTSA wants to remind owners and operators of 15-passenger vans that they do carry some additional safety risks to be aware of.
