Dog Attack Inside of Asheville Bar

Deputy Attacked by Dog in Brevard

On Monday afternoon, a Transylvania County Sheriff's deputy was attacked by a dog while responding to a disturbance call at a residence off of East Fork Road. Very little information about this incident has been released, but initial reports indicate that the deputy was attacked shortly after arriving on the scene. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, a pit bull attacked the deputy several times. The deputy reportedly tried to push the dog away, but on the third attempt drew his firearm to protect himself.

Henderson County Child Attacked by Dog

On Sunday, a two-year-old child in Henderson County was attacked by a dog. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened inside of a family home on Frankie Lane. Although they didn't own the dog, they did feed the stray husky mix the day prior to the attack. 

Child Fatally Attacked by Pit Bull

On Tuesday, a six-year-old child was fatally attacked by a pit bull in Henderson County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the dog was recently adopted from the Asheville Humane Society. Although very few details have been released, we do know that the dog was so aggressive when law enforcement officers arrived on scene, it had to be shot.

People are rarely attacked by vicious dogs, but when those attacks happen to young children or the elderly they can be deadly. Particular breeds, like pit bulls, Rottweilers, Akitas and German shepherds are publicized as being more aggressive and dangerous than other breeds. While that is probably true, there is no question that pit bulls have been bred to be aggressive and strong.
