Fatal Crash on Hendersonville Road

On Monday morning, there was a fatal crash on Hendersonville Road in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened just after 5:00 a.m. Very little information has been released, but we do know that a 23-year-old man from Asheville was killed in the crash. Initial reports indicate that a Nissan Sentra was headed north when it crossed the centerline into the southbound lane.

Injury Crash in Buncombe County

Last week, there was an injury crash involving an ejected driver in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on New Leicester Highway at the Newfound Road intersection. Very little information has been released about this two-vehicle crash, but we do know that one person was ejected from a vehicle. Initial reports indicate that a Ford Focus collided with an Acura when turning left on Newfound Road from New Leicester Highway. The Acura reportedly overturned during the wreck. The driver and sole occupant in the Acura was ejected from the vehicle.

North Carolina drivers who have been on the road with large trucks might agree that these larger vehicles can be intimidating. One issue that can be dangerous for everyone on the road is brake failure or related problems. Van Crashes into Motel Room in Bryson City

Last week, a van crashed into a Bryson City motel room. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened at the Relax Inn on Veteran's Boulevard. Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that a woman was inside of the motel room at the time of the crash. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Multiple Wrecks on I-40

Earlier this week, there were multiple crashes on I-40. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, Monday night was a difficult evening on the busy interstate roadway. Just before 7:00 p.m., there was a wreck in the eastbound lanes near exit 46A in Asheville. There were four vehicles involved, and at least two people were hospitalized. First responders and crews rushed to the scene where all but one lane had to be shut down for hours. Traffic was significantly backed up in the area. There has been no word on anybody's current condition or on the extent of injuries involved. Additionally, no information has been released about the cause of the crash, which could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.

Woman Fatally Hit by Work Truck

Last week, a Burnsville woman was fatally hit by a work truck. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Thursday morning in the parking lot of the Shell station on East Main Street. Very little information has been released about this collision, but we do know that the work truck was being driven by a 24-year-old from Knoxville, Tennessee.

Authorities on the lookout for tired drivers

Hours-of-service compliance was a major focus during the most recent International Roadcheck event conducted by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. Roughly 33,000 such violations were issued during the event in 2017. According to safety advocates, drivers in North Carolina may not be as effective behind the wheel if they are tired.

Motorcycle Crash in Clyde

Over the weekend, there was a motorcycle injury crash in Clyde. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened in Haywood County at about 5:00 p.m. on an I-40 ramp. Very few details have been released, but we do know that the wreck occurred along I-40 west on the bridge close to Exit 27 near Clyde. For currently unknown reasons, the motorcycle ran off of the roadway and hit a guardrail. The motorcycle rider was seriously injured in the crash, but there has been no word on that person's current condition or on the full extent of injuries. No other vehicles appeared to be involved, but the crash is still under investigation with local law enforcement officials.

Cyclist Injured in Asheville Crash

On Tuesday night, a cyclist was hit by a car in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened at the intersection of Tunnel Road and Interstate 240. Very little information has been released about this crash, but we do know that the cyclist was seriously injured.

That person was transported to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries.
