Dog Attack Inside of Asheville Bar

Last week, two dogs inside of an Asheville bar attacked a man. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in South Slope at the Dalton Distillery. For currently unknown reasons, two dogs were running off-leash inside of the establishment. When 42-year-old Millis Bryson walked into the bar, the dogs attacked him. One of the dogs jumped up on his chest and bit his hand badly. His thumb was lacerated and required suturing. The second dog went for his abdomen and left several puncture wounds in his stomach. His hand was bleeding profusely at the scene, so he went to Mission Hospital for treatment.

Tracking Down Dangerous Dogs

Although Bryson was able to get some cell phone footage of the dogs and the dog owner, it has taken several days to track them down. Thankfully, authorities were able to confirm that the dogs were vaccinated for rabies prior to the attack. Since Bryson is diabetic, he is especially worried about any potential complications that could arise from the bites, including infection. He was also concerned about the high cost of a series of rabies shots, which he did not have insurance coverage for. Just last week, another man in Asheville was bit by a dog. Officials were unable to locate the dog or the dog's owner, so the victim had to undergo the painful series of rabies shots.
