Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Long Shoals Road

Last week, there was a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a van in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Friday afternoon on Long Shoals Road near The Forest at Biltmore Park. Very little information has been released about this crash, but we do know that one person was killed in the wreck. Following the crash, local law enforcement officials were urging drivers and riders to exercise additional caution or roadways prior to the holiday weekend. There has been no word on whether or not any charges or citations have been made. This wreck is likely still under investigation with law enforcement officers. 

Click It or Ticket for Memorial Day Weekend

On Monday, law enforcement agencies around Ashville came together to kick off the annual Click It or Ticket seat belt safety campaign. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the event was held at the Buncombe County Public Safety Training Facility. Although the State of North Carolina is above the national average for seat belt usage, Buncombe County is the seventh deadliest county in North Carolina where passenger vehicle occupants aren't buckled up at the time of the crash. WLOS ABC News Channel 13 reports that out of the last four years, the county has averaged nine traffic deaths involving unrestrained passenger occupants.

One-Vehicle Crash on Sweeten Creek Road

On Wednesday morning, there was a one-vehicle crash on Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near the Givens Estate entrance sometime before 11:30 a.m. Very few details about this wreck have been released, but we do know that the vehicle involved took out power lines in the area. According to Duke Energy, approximately 600 people were without power for a couple of hours.

Truck Crash in Waynesville

On Monday afternoon, there was a crash involving a large truck in Waynesville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Raccoon Road. Very few details about this wreck have been released, but we do know that a driver reportedly lost control of a Consolidated Waste Services (CWS) truck before the vehicle left the roadway and landed in a ditch. Thankfully, no injuries were reported on the scene. Initial reports indicate that the truck may have had a blown tire prior to the crash. A portion of the roadway had to be closed as first responders and crews worked the scene. 

Fatal One-Car Crash in Transylvania County

Earlier this week, there was a fatal one-car crash in Transylvania County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened on 276-North in Pisgah National Forest. Very few details about this wreck have been released by we do know that a vehicle left the roadway and went down an embankm 

Pedestrian Hit in Asheville

Last week, a vehicle in Asheville hit a pedestrian on Crowell Road. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near the Rodeway Inn, sometime before 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night. Very few details have been released about this incident, but we do know that law enforcement officers with the Asheville Police Department were on the scene until about 11:00 p.m. investigating what happened. There has been no word on the cause of the crash or the extent of injuries involved. 

Injury Crash in Macon County

On Monday afternoon, five people were injured in a Macon County crash. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened near U.S. 441 and Sanderstown Road. Very few details have been released about this multi-car crash, but we do know that five people were injured, and four of them were transported to local hospitals for treatment. A four-year-old child was taken to Angel Medical Center. A driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles had to be airlifted to Mission Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. There has been no word on the cause of the crash, which is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.

Multi-Car Crash on I-40

Over the weekend, there was a multi-car crash in the eastbound lanes of I-40 in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near Exit 53. Very few details about this wreck have been released, but we do know that at least five vehicles were involved. A portion of the roadway had to be closed as crews and first responders worked the scene.

Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-40

On Tuesday morning, there was a semi truck crash on I-40 in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened in the eastbound lanes near Brevard Road. Initial reports indicate that the tractor-trailer rear-ended a van. Very few details about this truck crash have been released. First responders rushed to the scene, where the woman in the van was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Thankfully, her injuries were described as non-life-threatening and she was in stable condition following the wreck. No other vehicles were involved. The van was reportedly running out of gas when the large truck hit it. There has been no word on whether or not any charges or citations have been made.
