Rollover Wreck in Fairview

On Monday, one person was injured in a rollover crash in Fairview. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the crash occurred on Charlotte Highway, near Mine hole Gap. Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that a driver reportedly crossed the centerline, and another car had to serve to avoid the collision. 

Multiple Crashes in Weaverville

On Monday, there were multiple crashes on Interstate 26 in Weaverville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, three crashes happened near exit 19 on I-26. There were four vehicles involved in the initial wreck, which did occur during inclement weather. The other two crashes happened in the traffic sometime after the initial wreck. At least one person was injured, but there's no word on that person's current condition or the extent of injuries involved. Motorists in the area reported heavy rain and wet roads at the time of the crash. At this time, no information has been released on whether or not any citations were made or the official causes of each of the crashes. 

Camper Trailer Crash in Asheville

On Sunday, there was a crash involving a truck and a camper trailer in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-40 at about 1:17 p.m. Although very few details have been released, initial reports indicate that a camper trailer came unhitched from a truck around mile marker 47. The camper trailer ran off onto the shoulder of the roadway.

Head On Crash in Fairview

On Monday morning, there was a head-on collision in Fairview. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Charlotte Highway near Emmas Grove Road. Very little information has been released about this crash, but we do know that the wreck happened sometime before 9:00 a.m. First responders were called to the scene, where Monday morning traffic was congested due to the wreckage. 

Driver Asleep at Wheel in Weaverville

In the early morning hours on Friday, a driver fell asleep at the wheel and caused a crash near Weaverville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened in the westbound lanes of I-26 at about 1:45 a.m. The driver of a Chevrolet Suburban reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel and lost control of the vehicle. The SUV struck a guardrail and rolled several times. Thankfully, that person did not suffer from serious injuries. First responders were swiftly on the scene, where traffic had to be diverted to the New Stock Road exit. A portion of the roadway was closed until about 3:15 a.m. The driver involved was charged with reckless driving.

Fatal Labor Day Weekend Crash

On Monday night, a driver was killed in a car crash in Macon County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened sometime after 8:00 p.m. on U.S. 441 near Mulberry Road. Very few details have been released about this crash, but the driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle. The Mustang crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a southbound pickup truck, causing the truck to spin and go over the guardrail.

Polaris ROV Recall: Need to Know

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a press release about the recall of Polaris Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROVs) due to a safety hazard. According to the CPSC, 2016 Polaris RZR XP Turbo and RZR XP 4 Turbo ROVs are being recalled because of a potential fire hazard. The CPSC is warning consumers that these ROVs could cause severe burn injuries if they're not fixed. Consumers are urged to stop using the ROVs immediately and contact Polaris to schedule a free repair. 

Labor Day: Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently publicizing their annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. Law enforcement agencies in North Carolina and around the country will be participating in high-visibility enforcement campaigns to stop and prevent drunk driving. The Labor Day Weekend is one of the deadliest holiday weekends of the year. The traditional end-of-summer celebrations begin on Friday and can run through the weekend.
