Tractor Trailer Crash on I-26

On Monday morning, a semi truck crash in Saluda had traffic backed up on I-26. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime before 7:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-26, near exit 59. The truck involved in the wreck was hauling liquid sugar at the time. Reportedly, the truck came around a turn, went off of the roadway and then the driver overcorrected. This caused the load of liquid sugar to shift, which then resulted in the vehicle overturning.

Car Crashes Into Asheville House

Last week, a car slammed into an East Asheville home. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime before midnight on Old Farm School Road at the intersection of Botany Drive and Lower Grassy Branch Road. A local couple, Frank and Judy Brown, had just turned in for the night when the car came crashing into their bedroom.

Fatal Truck Crash on Airport Road

On Monday morning, there was a fatal crash involving a semi truck on Airport Road in Fletcher. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near Rockwood and I-26. Apparently, an SUV was trying to make a left onto Rockwood from Airport Road at the same time a semi truck was coming from I-26. The large truck reportedly went straight, and the SUV was in its path. The two vehicles collided, and 84-year-old Jo Williams Conner of Rutherfordton was killed in the crash. 

Injury Crash in Brevard

On Monday, a two-car crash in Brevard sent at least four people to the hospital. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Rosman Highway at Good Neighbor Drive and Clement Road. Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that at least one person was airlifted to an Asheville hospital for treatment of injuries. 

Asheville Crashes at I-26 Bridge

A recent WLOS ABC News Channel 13 investigative report focused on the dangers of the I-26 bridge construction area. According to one contractor, safety issues at the particular work zone have caused at least 12 crashes in the area. Although many of these crashes have been attributed to issues like distracted driving, there are still questions as to whether or not the construction area is properly laid out and provides adequate visibility for drivers. Through the course of their investigation, WLOS ABC News Channel 13 found numerous police reports indicating poor visibility and vehicles coming out of their lanes.

Multi-Car Buncombe County Crash

Over the weekend, a multi-car crash in Buncombe County had portions of Patton Avenue shut down. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on I-240, near the Jeff Bowen Bridge. Although very few details have been released about this crash, we do know that at least two vehicles were involved. At this time, there has been no word on the cause of the crash or if anybody was injured. This wreck could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.

Injury Crash on I-26

A crash in Polk County is reminding drivers about the importance of observing all signs and signals on the roadway. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened midday on Tuesday. Apparently, a driver cut through an area that's designated for official use only. The driver of a Chevrolet Impala attempted to turn left through an official-use only access way and collided with a Jeep Liberty headed east on I-26. The Jeep overturned and rolled several times. 

Injury Crash in Hendersonville

On Saturday afternoon, at least three people were injured in a Hendersonville crash involving a Henderson County Deputy. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime around 1:51 p.m. at the intersection of Four Seasons Boulevard and Dana Road. The Deputy was reportedly headed south on Dana Road with flashing lights on when an eastbound minivan on Four Seasons Boulevard collided with the patrol car. The minivan also struck another vehicle in the wreck. The deputy was responding to a call at the time of the crash.

Road Rage in Asheville

Last week, a road rage incident involving a gun happened in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Friday. A female driver was reportedly shot at after turning in front of another driver. The other driver, in an apparent fit of rage over being cut off, fired off shots. The female driver called 911 and immediately drove to a police station in east Asheville. 

One-Vehicle Charlotte Highway Crash

Over the weekend, a one-vehicle crash on Charlotte Highway sent an Asheville man to the hospital. According to WLOS ABC NEWS Channel 13, the incident happened on Saturday afternoon. The driver, Christopher Love, was reportedly driving more than 100 miles per hour at the time of the wreck. He lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete wall. Love was ejected from the vehicle, and the most recent report has him listed in critical condition. Law enforcement officers have since charged him with DWI and other traffic violations.
