On Tuesday morning, a crash involving a dump truck had traffic backed up in Asheville for hours. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on the ramp to I-40 west at Highway 74. Although very few details have been released, we do know that a large piece of heavy equipment fell off of the back of the truck's trailer. The equipment fell onto an oncoming car. Apparently, the driver of the dump truck was traveling too fast for the roadway conditions.
On Monday morning, a semi truck crash in Saluda had traffic backed up on I-26. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime before 7:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-26, near exit 59. The truck involved in the wreck was hauling liquid sugar at the time. Reportedly, the truck came around a turn, went off of the roadway and then the driver overcorrected. This caused the load of liquid sugar to shift, which then resulted in the vehicle overturning.
On Friday morning, a tractor trailer overturned on top of a car and a van. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime before 8:00 a.m., on Wiggins Road, Off Interstate 40 in Buncombe County. Apparently, the brakes went out on the big rig as the driver was coming down the off-ramp for Wiggins Road. In an effort to avoid oncoming traffic, the truck driver swerved and his rig overturned. It landed on a sedan and a Mountain Mobility van.
