Person Injured by Rolling Car

Earlier this week, a person was injured after trying to stop a rolling car in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Monday night at the Asheville Regional Airport. Apparently, a driver was at the airport to pick somebody up when he or she got out of the vehicle. The car was reportedly still in gear and kept rolling. Another person reportedly tried to stop the car and was injured in the process. That person was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries. There has been no word on the extent of injuries, the person's current condition or the make and model of the car involved.

Anton Yelchin's Recalled Jeep

Over the summer, actor Anton Yelchin was killed when his Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled down his driveway and crushed him. Although very few details have emerged in the ongoing investigation, the vehicle in question was under recall for a gearshift issued that confused drivers. Drivers of these particular Jeeps were at risk for inadvertently leaving the vehicle in neutral when it looked like it was in park. Fiat Chrysler recalled nearly 812,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee models from 2014 and 2015. The recall was conducted after complaints from owners and a subsequent investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Defective Auto Parts

At this time, we don't know what the make or model of the vehicle involved in the incident at the Asheville Regional Airport, but if the past two years have taught us anything about defective auto parts, it's that recalls rarely get initiated in a timely fashion. It could be months or longer before investigations are conducted and recalls are issued. If you suspect a defective auto part caused your crash, you need to report your concerns to the NHTSA, the vehicle's manufacturer and to your personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.
