Multiple Crashes in Weaverville

On Monday, there were multiple crashes on Interstate 26 in Weaverville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, three crashes happened near exit 19 on I-26. There were four vehicles involved in the initial wreck, which did occur during inclement weather. The other two crashes happened in the traffic sometime after the initial wreck. At least one person was injured, but there's no word on that person's current condition or the extent of injuries involved. Motorists in the area reported heavy rain and wet roads at the time of the crash. At this time, no information has been released on whether or not any citations were made or the official causes of each of the crashes.

Wet Weather Driving Safety

During wet weather, it's important for motorists to adjust their speed and driving to the conditions of the roadway. Slowing down, especially when the rain first begins to fall, is essential for keeping your car under control. A little bit of light or fresh rain mixing with oils on top of the road can make the roadway more slippery than it looks. Always turn your lights on, and try to avoid hard braking or any sudden movements. Remember to leave plenty of room between your car and the car in front of you, in the event of an emergency, you'll need extra room to brake safely. Listed below are some additional tips for driving safely in wet weather.

Wet Weather Driving Tips

  •        Slow down.
  •     Turn on your headlights.
  •     Leave plenty of room between your car and the car in front of you.
  •     Don't use cruise control in poor weather conditions.
  •     Don't panic if you car begins to skid.
  •     During a skid, continue to look and steer in the direction you want the car to go.
  •     Avoid slamming on the brakes to maintain control.
  •     Regularly check your tire tread, pressure and wear.
