NCDOT Warns of Deer-Related Collisions

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is warning drivers to keep an eye out for deer in the coming months. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, half of all animal-related collisions for the year will happen between now and the end of the year. Sergeant Toby Jenkins with the Wildlife Resources Commission says that drivers should be particularly watchful for deer at dawn and dusk, when the animals are most active.

He also reports that Polk County has the highest deer population in Western North Carolina. Drivers involved in animal-related collisions should immediately call law enforcement for assistance. If drivers suspect that a fawn may be abandoned or in danger after a crash, they're also encouraged to call a local deer rehabilitation clinic.

The team at Davis Law Group, P.A. wishes everybody safe travels during the fall and upcoming winter driving season.
